Dumpy

Yesterday, lastnight, and this morning I felt real dumpy; i.e., shitty. Been working out so much and not getting enough rest that my body finally called it quits. Got to where I was nauseus and spent.

Around 8:00am or so this morning I started feeling better. Slept in and didn't work out either which I think helped immensely. Gave me a solid ten+ hours of rest.

I was going to take the day off and just go in to work for our potluck lunch. Turned out to be a day full of fires though so I ended up staying at work until this evening. So much to do and so little time.

Was a very productive day in spite of all the problems. Took care of the major tasks and helped resolved minor ones over the phone from bed. Pretty much just gotta deal with vendors tomorrow so I'll concentrate on the Saturday party prep in the morning then get ready to party after work! HOOOYAH!!

Christmas Weekend

Mele Kalikimaka 2005 came and went. It was yet another commercial success I suppose for the retail industry. Sure there was the endless commercials, ads, spots, sales, etc. At some places I heard they even had caroling but sadly, I missed it. In spite of the all mighty dollar theme it turned out quite nice for gatherings.

Our family gathering was nice. We had two so my side was on the eve and her's on the day. There was actually three since she had two for Saturday - one lunch and one dinner. But bad timing and a lingering flu turned the lunch into dinner and the latter into apologies. Thankfully her sick is on the exit and I didn't get smashed by it.

Probably the stress of physical and mental planning for the occassion didn't help much either. There's so much going on during that time including gift shopping that it can bog you down real easy. Good thing most of that was done early so mostly was just my stuff for her which she chose.

Getting back to the parties we got to the Saturday lunch late so I can't say too much about it. What I can say is that I got to eat a favorite dish of mine that a "brother" makes - pork gisantes. Better than any I've eaten in restaurants!

I also can't say much on the dinner party for the same reason. It was already dark when we arrived and after only two hours it was late. Too late to attend that we reluctantly stayed longer at the late lunch. While it was nice to spend time with the family was still a bummer not to spend it with the rest.

The only definitive menu I can offer for this past weekend's potluck buffet is from Friday's fest. Lots and lots of grinds made up of high fat, high calorie, high carbohydrate content - in other words, ONO!! Here's the spread: oven roasted prime rib, kalua pork, kalua ham (w/ fat and skin gleefully hanging by a thread), kalua lamb, sauteed monchong (w/ shrimp, mushrooms, onions, and capers), steamed fish (w/ lupcheong), smoked fish, pork & cabbage soup, fish & tako pokes, steamed veggies, roasted red skinned potatoes, chinese salad, potato & egg salad, chips & salsa, rice, various breads, German apple pie, pumpkin pie, minced meat pie, chocolate chip cookies, and a ginger bread house that the kids demolished.

I brought down my own hotsauce so the only gripe was no damn kimchee. Now WTF is up with that?!?! What a bummerz. Anyway, lotta working out to do before the next pigout this coming Saturday!

2nd Day Off - Nice

Yah, much nicer day filled with done things. Another nice workout started the day. The boss did a nice job on the yard as well. Then I must say I did a very nice job on the ayce salad bar! That was followed-up by some nice spurts of shopping. In between the un-nice coughing, sniffling, and sneezing it was nice day off. Finally capped off with a nice unload of turd and a couple of nicely staggered blog updates.

Day Off

Had to burn my two floaters or lose em. This is the first and tomorrow's the last. Don't really like taking vacation unless I'm gonna do something. If not, then it's boresville and snoresville.

Pretty much vegged today. Picked up some lunch for the boss cause she took an early vacation after coming down with the flu. Thought I was lingering on sick too but as long as I keep slamming spicy hots and heavymetal I'll be fine. :P

Just finished a great workout. So hungry but gotta wait til my protein crap digests fully. Been browsing in the interim and checking this cool classic rock pic site: The Creative Eye!

Ugh!

Ugh! too many damn $1 hotdogs. I only had four but still was like eating two to many. Lucky I got rid of some bread. Dog itself was real salty tho. Next time I'll just pass altogether.

Department Christmas Party

We went back to Hanaki again. The spread wasn't as good as last year but still tasty. Let's see, it included chicken yakitori, shrimp & veggie tempura, tempura donburi, shumai, potato croquet, sashimi, various kimchi condiments, soba, somen, sushi, desserts, etc.

It had way too much starch but didn't seem to matter. I think I had my first three plates in the first 15 minutes I was there. After that it was a slow, controlled pigout. Damn I was hungry!!!

Was secret Santa so we played a guessing game at the end. You could only open your gift if you correctly guessed who got it for you. Needless to say it took a while but at the end of our luncheon everyone was fat and happy.

Company Christmas Party

This year's company party was good overall. SAC's organization was fine though entertainment choice was questionable. Food selection and quantity was great as were the door and grand prizes. Was nice to see the gang all in one place even if not all could stay for the after party.

What Is

Sometimes what is doesn't matter.
Sometimes what is is passable.
Sometimes what is is tolerable.
Sometimes what is is necessary.
Sometimes what is is the way it is.
Sometimes what is sucks.

Just remember, what is doesn't always have to be.

Do something about it and what is may never be again.
